Like so many other events over the past twelve months, the Learners Eisteddfod 2021 took place via a Zoom link, but it was still a very enjoyable and entertaining evening, a wonderful celebration of Welsh language and culture.

This year, I decided to try my hand at a poem for The Chair Competition, Cystadleuaeth y Gadair, on the theme of Gobaith (Hope), judged by Welsh author, poet and broadcaster Aled Lewis Evans. The Crown and The Chair are the most important accolades at any Eisteddfod, so although my entry came second, I was delighted, as this is still a real honour.

Here it is, with the English translation below, about looking for hope in the beauty that surrounds us, and in the simple things that give us joy.
